Welcome to South Beach

Iconic Art Deco daydream

South Beach’s iconic strip of Art Deco buildings with glistening neon lights has made this international hub a popular destination for glitzy nightlife, gourmet dining, and gorgeous Atlantic sunrise yoga sessions. For years, South Beach has been the backdrop for feature films and television shows and a frequent stop for big-name celebrities, but for locals, the community has developed a more nuanced culture of its own. Residents are drawn to South Beach for its clear ocean water, plentiful sunshine, and strong sense of community. Stay up all night at exclusive night clubs or wake up early for bougie brunch. Star-studded streets, celebrity status, and saltwater tides await in SoBe.

People & Lifestyle

South Beach’s sultry skyline is primed for postcards. Pastel Art Deco hotels line the beachfront, their facades ablaze with neon signs that recall a nostalgic, retro ambiance. Life in SoBe often reflects the gauzy, gilded scenes depicted on the silver screen—there is always something to do, something new to eat, and somewhere to go. This on-the-go lifestyle is ideal for young professionals craving day-to-day excitement.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Shopping in South Beach doesn’t get better than Lincoln Road. This pedestrian-only through street boasts some of retail’s biggest names alongside local boutiques. Whether you’re looking for the perfect coffee table decoration or a new wardrobe of athleisure wear, Lincoln Road has a little bit of everything—Urban Outfitters, lululemon athletica, and MAC Cosmetics are a few of its large retailers, while intimate shopping awaits at boutiques such as UNOde50, Blue Mercury, and Soho Miami.

Stretching between 5th Street and 25th Street, Lummus Park boasts 74 acres of stunning waterfront parkland, complete with a playground, walking and biking trails, public restrooms, and outdoor fitness center Muscle Beach.

Mediterranean Revival architecture is prevalent throughout South Beach, but no mansion exudes its rich heritage and innate opulence like The Villa, Casa Casuarina. Built in 1930 and previously owned by high fashion moguls, the Versace family, in the 1990s, this mansion currently operates a luxurious hotel where guests can live as lavishly as the Versaces.

South Beach offers an array of globally-inspired fares, each elegantly plated and prepared from a sophisticated palette. CVI.CHE 105 is an award-winning Peruvian restaurant led by chef and owner Juan Chipoco that serves flavorful traditional and contemporary favorites. The Bazaar by José Andrés elevates small plates with a fusion of Spanish, Asian, and island cuisines. RED South Beach is an undeniably delicious steakhouse that has been a mainstay in the Miami dining circuit since its grand opening. With perfectly paired wines and an intimate atmosphere, RED crafts delectable seafood dishes with seasonal ingredients.

Things to Do

South Beach has no shortage of entertainment options, especially since this tropical paradise hosts several annual events. Just in time for spring break each year, Miami Music Week takes South Beach. Bringing hundreds of thousands of guests and over 1,000 musical acts, this week-long extravaganza is a celebration of electronic and dance music. Swiss art show Art Basel sponsors a showcase in South Beach. Featuring juried artists—both new creators and seasoned masters—this art show spans four days and highlights artists working in a multitude of mediums.

Get outside with 3rd Street Beach Yoga, which takes to the sands for sunrise and sunset vinyasa flows. If you prefer sunbathing to stretching, South Beach’s expanse of fine sand is perfect for a day by the waves.

Schools

South Beach offers many exceptional academic facilities, so parents can make the best choice for their child’s learning style. A few of the area’s most widely recognized, high-quality schools include:

  • South Beach Muss Family Montessori School, PK-K
  • South Pointe Elementary School, PK-5
